Oxford Downs 1st XI play in the Home Counties Premier League Division 1, the highest level of amateur cricket based in Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, and Berkshire.

The team had an excellent campaign in 2025, our second season in this division, finishing in second place – the highest ranking Oxfordshire club. This was a great achievement considering the club was only promoted to HCPL Division 2 in 2019.

We pride ourselves on team spirit and camaraderie, believing a positive and enjoyable environment helps bring out the best cricket for what is a talented group of players and this has proved successful over several seasons.

The team is led by 1st XI captain Matt Warner who is entering his third season as skipper, supported by vice-captain Luke Maslen, and overseas professional player/coach Louis Delport, who has 10 years experience with Auckland Aces in New Zealand.

We are very commited to progressing talented young players and supporting their ambitions to represent at higher levels in particular for Oxfordshire in the National Counties competitions with Luke Maslen, Fred Smith, Ollie Armstrong, and Henry Welch selected in the 2025 season along with a number of others having been selected in previous seasons.

Entering the 2026 season we are looking to continue to play with a positive attitude, and to win as many games as possible with the view to challenge at the top end of the table once again!
